  • German Smear is a pigmented mortar finish — it doesn’t sit on the surface or peel. Paint, whitewash, or limewash often lose adhesion under intense UV, humidity, or moisture exposure, but German Smear fuses with the masonry and allows expand/contract movement.

  • Each project is custom-measured and climate-tuned. Expect initial costs higher than paint or basic coatings, but far lower over time due to its longevity and minimal maintenance. It’s a long-term investment in durability and curb appeal.

  • We use UV-stable pigments and custom formulas to maintain color integrity even under intense summer sun. Unlike paint or other finishes, German Smear does not peel or fade away.

  • Properly installed finishes endure 20–30+ years or more, especially when protected and maintained lightly.

  • Very little. Once a year or every other year, a power washing with mildewcide chemicals to keep surfaces clean is typically all that’s needed.

  • German Smear cannot be applied over paint. Paint must be stripped (e.g., by sandblasting or other removal methods) to ensure mortar adhesion to brick surfaces.
